NBC’s Fall Schedule – News from the Upfronts – Day 1

As we just about reach the end of the 2006-2007 TV season the networks are announcing their schedules for 2007-2008.  So how does the schedule stack up you ask:

The Great: More Friday Night Lights and 30 episodes of Heroes and The Office.

The Good: A final season of Scrubs (only 18 episodes) and a promising slate of new shows.

The Bad: If you like comedies then you won’t be happy – there’s only one new one and it’s not on until mid-season.

The Ugly: Reality every night at 8:00 (except Thursday).  Yuck!

Direct from TV Guide here’s NBC’s daily TV schedule with my commentary:

MONDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal – Waste of airwaves.
9-10 pm Heroes – Already can’t wait.
10-11 pm JOURNEYMAN – Quantum Leap 2.0, interesting!

TUESDAY
8-9 pm The Biggest Loser – Bigger waste of airwaves.
9-10 pm CHUCK – Computer geek spy – sounds silly but so did Alias.
10-11 pm Law & Order: Special Victims Unit – Still the best procedural on TV.

WEDNESDAY
8-9 pm Deal or No Deal – See above
9-10 pm BIONIC WOMAN – Hopefully it’s more Battlestar Galactica than Sasquatch of the week.
10-11 pm LIFE – I’m always good for a crime drama.

THURSDAY
8-8:30 pm My Name Is Earl – Still good.
8:30-9 pm 30 Rock – Still good.
9-9:30 pm The Office – Whoo, hoo
9:30-10 pm Scrubs – More whoo, hoo
10-11 pm ER – Hopefully the last season but better than Shark.

FRIDAY
8-9 pm 1 vs 100/THE SINGING BEE – More crap.
9-10 pm Las Vegas – Ehhh, not my kind of show.
10-11 pm Friday Night Lights – Best show of the year.

SATURDAY
8-9 pm Dateline NBC – Irrelevant
9-11 pm Drama Series Encores – Also irrelevant

SUNDAY (Fall 2007)
7-8 pm Football Night in America
8-11 pm NBC Sunday Night Football

SUNDAY (January 2008)
7-8 pm Dateline NBC – Don’t care.
8-9 pm Law & Order – Watch more out of habit than interest.
9-10 pm Medium – Nope.
10-11 pm LIPSTICK JUNGLE – Don’t think so.

Say goodbye to Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Crossing Jordan, Law & Order: CI (moving to USA) and maybe the Apprentice.  No real loss on any front.

Tomorrow, ABC announces its schedule.
